New approach to regulating VOC emissions in the pipeline

The foundations of a possible new approach to regulating emissions of volatile organic compounds from industry have been laid by a study for the Environment Agency.1 The method relies on calculating the contribution made by individual VOCs to downwind creation of ozone - potentially permitting targeting of regulatory effort to the best environmental effect at key sectors or individual processes within refineries or major chemical works.
