Water firms fall behind on AMP3 investment

Water companies are lagging behind on their current five-year capital investment programmes and face a "challenge" to deliver them by the 2005 deadline, according to water regulator Ofwat's latest report on the industry's financial performance.1 Northumbrian, South West and Yorkshire Water are singled out for failing to meet timetables on sewer overflows, but United Utilities also faces a demanding schedule.
