Aviation lobby warns of perverse effects from curbing CO<SUB>2</SUB> emissions

Efforts to tackle aviation's soaring contribution to climate change may be counter-productive if they focus on carbon dioxide emissions alone, according to an industry-led group. The Greener by Design group sees little scope for further improvements in fuel efficiency in the near term - but hopes to see European flights brought under the EU emissions trading scheme from 2008.
