Wallström warms to role for aviation in EU emissions trading

EU Environment Commissioner Margot Wallström has expressed cautious support for allowing European flights into the EU emissions trading scheme from 2008. Airport operator BAA has developed proposals to allow airlines to offset their rising emissions by buying EU allowances - and the UK Government looks likely to back the idea in its forthcoming aviation White Paper.
