Rhodia site suffers acid spill despite warnings from Agency audit
Chemical manufacturer Rhodia has been fined £19,000 for three offences relating to a 22-tonne acid leak at its Oldbury works last year. Worryingly, many of the shortcomings which led to the incident had been identified five years ago by an Environment Agency audit which concluded that spillage prevention measures at the site fell short of the "best available techniques".
