Sharp to open PV plant in Wrexham

Electronics giant Sharp is to begin manufacturing photovoltaic panels at its manufacturing base in Wrexham, North Wales, next spring.

The site will be Sharp's first PV manufacturing base in Europe. It will have an initial production capacity of 20MW per year, but Sharp will increase European production in line with increasing demand for solar energy.

The panels will have a lifetime of over 25 years, and Sharp has already promised to recycle and reuse old modules at Wrexham.
