Drop in landfill pollution incidents

Pollution incidents at landfill sites recorded by the Environment Agency look set to hit the lowest level since records began in 2000, according to Environment Minister Elliot Morley.1

According to Mr Morley, 23 successful prosecutions have been taken for these incidents, resulting in fines totalling £239,500.
