Turkey processing business Bernard Matthews was fined £3,500, with £972 costs, during May for polluting the river Wang from its Holton, Suffolk plant last September. Beccles magistrates imposed the fine after being told by the National Rivers Authority that the discharge was more polluting than crude sewage.
