British Steel under suspicion as UK's largest dioxin source
British Steel may be by far the UK's largest known emitter of dioxins, according to new emission estimates by the Department of the Environment (DoE). German studies have found particularly high dioxin levels in the flue gases from sintering plants - but the scale of the problem in the UK remains unknown because British Steel has so far failed to measure dioxin emissions at any of its four sites.
