UK's reply to EPA dioxin report highlights major new sources
Diesel combustion and steelmaking have been pinpointed for the first time as significant sources of dioxins in a new emission inventory prepared by the Department of the Environment (DoE). The figures form part of the UK's initial response to the US Environmental Protection Agency's draft reassessment of the health risks posed by dioxins - although the Government appears unconvinced by its warning that background levels may pose a health risk.
