Demonstration project gives shot in the arm for solar power
Solar power has taken a major step forward in the UK with the opening of the first building to be clad with and powered by photovoltaic (PV) cells. Electricity generated by the demonstration project will be far more costly than that produced by traditional means - but supporters of the technology believe that PV-clad buildings will be economically viable in the UK within 10-30 years.
