Brighter prospects for energy conservation Bill
A Private Member's Bill to promote domestic energy efficiency which was blocked by the Government last year amidst great acrimony received an unopposed second reading in the House of Commons on 20 January. But the Treasury has made it clear that a second Bill to reduce VAT on energy-saving products to the 8% rate now levied on domestic energy has no chance of becoming law.
