UK legislation drives surge in environmental technology sales

The next five years will be a boom period for suppliers of environmental technology to British industry, according to a survey by Environmental Policy Consultants (EPC).1 A near majority of the manufacturing businesses surveyed expect to increase their purchases of such equipment by over 25% - with UK legislation the main driving force.

The survey looked at manufacturing companies' recent purchases of environmental technology and their investment intentions. A total of 116 firms from "mainstream" industry responded. The main findings were:
