Benefits of SO<SUB>2</SUB> abatement exceed costs, DoE study suggests
A report prepared by consultants Ecotec for the Department of the Environment (DoE) suggests that the benefits of reducing sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions may greatly exceed the costs. The findings come just a few months after the UK fought off demands for a faster rate of emission reduction in international negotiations because of concerns over the costs of SO2 abatement.
