Row over FGD rocks the boat for power sell-off

The flotation of the Government's 40% share in National Power and PowerGen has brought into focus the ongoing wrangle over upgrading requirements for existing power stations. The Labour Party has entered the fray, warning that it intends to force PowerGen to fit flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) equipment to its Ferrybridge C station, or else claw back £250 million of taxpayers' money given to the firm to pay for the project.
