Environmental managers call for greater support from the boardroom

The work of environmental managers in business is being held back by the continuing lack of real dedication to environmental improvement by top management, according to a survey by the Institute of Environmental Management (IEM).1 Otherwise the study paints a generally rosier picture of the profession than a similar survey two years ago - although many environmental managers have still not been asked to contribute to decisions in areas such as product development and technology appraisal where their expertise could help to prevent future environmental problems.
