Minister pushes selective controls on VOCs from petrol stations

Environment Minister Robert Atkins has told the House of Commons Environment Committee that the UK may introduce controls on emissions from petrol pumps in areas where benzene or other pollutants are contributing to poor air quality. The Committee's inquiry into volatile organic compounds (VOCs) has also heard controversial evidence on the risks of benzene emissions from petrol combustion.
