"Double jeopardy" for Hickson over chemical spill

Yorkshire chemical company Hickson has been fined £5,000 for breaching an integrated pollution control (IPC) authorisation, following a spillage of timber treatment chemicals to the river Aire. The firm is now fighting a charge by the National Rivers Authority (NRA) for the same incident on the grounds of "double jeopardy".
