  • Grampian Regional Council has started trials with 30 farmers to apply 24,000 tonnes of granulated treated sewage sludge to their land over five years. The Council hopes that farming and forestry applications will provide a much-needed outlet for the region's sludge, which is expected to increase six-fold once EC regulations on wastewater treatment begin to bite. The granules to be used in the market test have been supplied by Wessex Water
