One-third of metal businesses "badly hit" by pollution controls
One in three firms affected by Part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 believe that the new controls will seriously hit profitability, according to a survey by the Engineering Employers' Federation (EEF). Companies expect to spend an average of over £400,000 in meeting the requirements by 1997.
