Metal works under scrutiny as potential dioxin sources
A study of dioxin levels in the West Midlands has uncovered a link between non-ferrous metal smelters and high dioxin levels in soils. It is the third time in less than a year that metal works have been highlighted as possible sources of organochlorine pollution - and could help to explain the large gap between the measured rate of dioxin deposition and emissions from known sources.
