No growth in European plastics recovery rates
An extra 700,000 tonnes of plastic waste were "recovered" in western Europe in 1991 compared with 1989, with material recycling increasing by 230,000 tonnes, according to a survey for the Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe (APME). However, both recovery and recycling rates failed to increase over this period - and the UK stayed close to the bottom of the European recovery rate league.
