Bill to improve safeguards against marine pollution

The Government is supporting a Private Member's Bill which will enhance the protection of the UK coast against oil pollution from ships.¹ But to date it has opposed Labour moves to enable charities to be repaid for the costs of pollution control and wildlife rescue operations in cases where a polluter cannot be identified.
