Deregulation of air pollution rules for timber processes

All emission limits for processes involving chemical treatment of timber and wood products have been erased from a Department of the Environment (DoE) guidance note.1 The revised note relies instead on recommending techniques for emission abatement, continuing a deregulatory trend which began last summer when the DoE began amending guidance notes for some 70 processes.
