  • A pilot plant using a plasma system for treating chlorinated wastes is to be installed by Rechem Environmental Services, EA Technology and Chubu of Japan at Rechem's Pontypool incinerator. The technology is based on an ultra-high turbulent plasma system which, at 6,000-20,000°C, is claimed to totally atomise the pollutants. EA believes a commercial plasma system could be designed within 12 months and that treatment costs could be substantially lower than incineration.
