  • British Telecom hopes to increase white paper telephone directory recycling from about 2.2 million to near 3 million of the 20 million directories used over the next year. The existing supplies come from normal paper collection schemes but BT plans to introduce 12 pilot schemes which will examine special collections from banks, households, schools and voluntary groups. A further 28 million yellow pages are issued each year by BT but only a few of these are recycled. The recycling rate in Germany is over 80%.
