Trouble ahead on bathing waters

Bathing water quality in 1993 improved slightly, according to a National Rivers Authority (NRA) report.1 But new projections by the NRA suggest that the Government will not meet its target to bring "virtually all" bathing waters into compliance with EC standards by 1995. Data in the report also indicate that many more waters will fail if proposed changes to the EC rules go through.
