GMO Directives face deregulation

All-out lobbying by German officials and industry has forced the European Commission into proposing sweeping deregulatory changes to two 1990 EC Directives on the contained use and deliberate release of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). However, most Member States are believed to oppose the most far-reaching proposals.
