Contractor error over bund brings drum recycler to court

A firm which recycles and incinerates chemical drums has become the second to be prosecuted by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) for breaching a condition in its integrated pollution control (IPC) authorisation. The case illustrates the power of the legal sanctions at HMIP's disposal and the risks which companies face if they contravene their authorisations even if no environmental damage results.
