Oil industry breaks agreement on North Sea chemical discharges
Oil companies are flouting a voluntary agreement intended to prevent pollution of the North Sea by chemical discharges from offshore rigs, a conference in Aberdeen has been told by an official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF). But efforts to introduce a stricter regime are being obstructed by the industry in concert with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
