Pressure mounts for improvements to packaging plan

The packaging chain's Producer Responsibility Group (PRG) is in the final throes of preparing its plan to "recover" 58% of packaging waste by 2000. A report on a funding mechanism to support the plan has just been published, and a PRG sub-group which assessed external comments on the draft plan has also reported.1 It recommends that PRG should place more emphasis on measures to promote waste reduction and markets for recycled packaging - but fails to address other important points made by consultees.
