Precedent for Environment Agency as HMIP takes on chemicals control

Regulations establishing a regime to enforce the 1993 EC Regulation on the risks posed by "existing" chemicals took effect in Britain on 29 July.1 HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) has been appointed as one of the enforcing bodies - suggesting that chemicals control is now a candidate for inclusion within the Environment Agency.
