Surfers face viral infection risks from sewage pollution
Research at the University of Leicester has found that surfers run an increased risk of contracting viral infections of the kind present in bathing waters. The study suggests that EC rules on bathing water quality may be inadequate to protect public health because the enterovirus measurements these require are a poor indicator of the presence of other viruses.
