Worry over licensing of effluent treatment plants

Waste management licences may have to be obtained for many thousands of effluent treatment plants, according to several waste regulators' interpretation of the new licensing rules introduced in May. At least one waste regulation authority (WRA) has now urged the Department of the Environment (DoE) to explain its understanding of the rules, which could mean a massive and unexpected extra workload for both regulators and businesses.
