Uncertainty over financial cover reduces UK's waste imports
Hazardous waste imports into the UK seem set to drop sharply this year following a big jump in 1993/4. Continuing uncertainty about the financial guarantees required to cover waste shipments under EC law is the main cause of the downturn, and may have a severe effect on the turnover of major importing companies.
