Electronic goods recycling hits funding obstacle

The Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling (ICER) is seeking funds from industry and the Government for a recovery and recycling trial for used electronic and electrical equipment. This follows a challenge set by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for companies in the sector to take responsibility for their waste. But the funding request has called into question the principle of "producer responsibility" and may put in jeopardy the trial start date.
