Abolition of rural sewerage grants threatens more pollution
A Department of the Environment (DoE) consultation document has suggested that grants to support new connections to sewers in rural areas offer taxpayers poor value for money and should be abolished.1 The move could result in increasing numbers of septic tanks and small sewage works which are likely to cause water pollution.
