Industry and environmentalists in the USA have welcomed a radically new approach to regulation announced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Common Sense Initiative promises to give all three parties and local communities an equal role in assessing the environmental impact of industry sectors and recommending changes to industrial practices or regulations which stand in the way of pollution prevention.
