Growing tension over global warming review

Claims that a cooling effect caused by sulphate aerosols in the atmosphere will offset global warming have received almost no support from a summary of a forthcoming report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). As the IPCC's work assumes growing political significance, groups representing US industry are questioning whether it is adhering to agreed procedures - but they themselves are being accused of forming an unholy alliance with oil producing states to block and delay its decisions.
