EHOs report another rise in odour and noise pollution

Public complaints about noise and odour pollution from industrial processes rose to record levels in 1992/3, according to the latest annual report of the Institution of Environmental Health Officers (IEHO). Few authorities had a clear idea of the amount of contaminated land in their districts, but the estimates suggest that the total area may be greater than previously thought.
