Chain of errors led to Global odour incidents

An inquiry into two severe odour pollution incidents in Leeds during August has attributed them to a combination of equipment failure, off-specification feedstock, inadequate abatement and process control, and poor communications at Global Environmental's wet air oxidation plant. The company, a Yorkshire Water subsidiary, may now be prosecuted by West Yorkshire Waste Regulation Authority (WYWRA).
