Castle Cement let off the hook over Cemfuel trials

Cement companies hoping to burn waste-derived fuels in their kilns must first use trial burns to assess and justify the environmental impact, under new requirements set out by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP). But Castle Cement will be allowed to burn waste fuel at its Ribblesdale works in Lancashire even after emission monitoring tests have been completed - despite a recent Ministerial statement to the contrary.
