An Essex sewage sludge disposal contractor, Carcarc Waste Disposal, faces a loss of business and the revocation of its waste carrier's registration after being convicted of three water pollution offences this summer. The case has drawn attention to an apparent misunderstanding of the law relating to carriers' responsibility to notify waste regulation authorities (WRAs) of water pollution offences.
