Lack of resources hampering noise control
Local authorities are struggling to deal with the rising tide of neighbour noise complaints because of a shortage of resources, according to a survey by the National Society for Clean Air (NSCA). Difficulties are also being encountered in implementing new legislation on noise in the streets. But local authority procedures for dealing with noise complaints also vary widely, and the NSCA has responded by issuing guidelines aimed at ensuring that the public receive a minimum and consistent level of service.
