Cryptosporidium's persistent posers for the water industry
Four years after the report of a Government expert committee, cryptosporidium continues to pose difficult challenges for the water industry. The parasite remains difficult to detect, monitor and eradicate from water supplies despite five years of research. Standards for water supplies remain a long way off, but in their absence doubts remain whether water companies can continue to claim that drinking water is safe to drink - particularly for vulnerable groups.
