No shift from landfill in Scottish waste guidelines
The first planning guidance on waste management in Scotland has been issued for consultation by the Scottish Office.1 The guidelines would do little to reduce reliance on landfill, but neither do they appear to presage any major push towards incineration. The impact of EC legislation is evident in recommendations dealing with regional and national self-sufficiency in disposal capacity and the integration of aquifer protection into the planning process.
