Nitrogen pollution report points finger at agriculture
A report for the Department of the Environment (DoE) has highlighted the large but unregulated contribution of ammonia emissions from agriculture to nitrogen pollution.1 Nitrogen deposition caused by emissions of both ammonia and nitrogen oxides is damaging ecosystems in the UK and Europe, and policy makers will come under pressure to control both pollutants in a revised international protocol.
