Producer responsibility plan for electronic goods hits stalemate
The Government's promise to introduce legislation to underpin voluntary "producer responsibility" schemes has been welcomed by the Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling (ICER). However, the industry is divided over options for future funding, with some firms challenging the very concept of producer responsibility. The row is reflected at EC level - raising the prospect of divergent schemes developing in individual Member States.
