Eco-labelling criteria adopted, but scheme remains shaky

Eco-labelling criteria for soil improvers and tissue products have finally been adopted by the European Commission in spite of an eleventh-hour bid by its Industry Directorate to stall the process once again. The move should bring eco-labelled soil improvers into the shops within a few months, but tissues producers look set to boycott the scheme. Meanwhile, the Commission has disclosed plans aimed at handing responsibility for operating much of the scheme to the European Environment
