Revival of EC programme on dangerous substances in water

The European Commission is expected soon to table proposals to revise the EC's legislation on dangerous substances in water in a bid to revive a programme which has lain dormant since 1990. But it appears to be some way short of devising a credible scheme for selecting dangerous substances for a priority list, and of explaining clearly how the new programme will fit with other existing and proposed legislation on water pollution and chemicals.
